Happy Weekend April 10th

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Thoroughly Clean Thursday: Back on track... for today!

I'm back on track with my clean house! Well, at least the main floor and at least for today :) Right now, I'm happy with that. It's a start. With Little L moving around more and more, it seems to be the perfect opportunity to teach Sweet T to start picking up after himself too. He doesn't like Little L playing with his toys, well, not his favorite toys anyway. I am constantly telling T that if he doesn't want L playing with something, he needs to put it away. We have to clean up after ourselves. He hasn't quite figured it out yet, but he's a bright kid and it wont take him long. I, on the other hand, and still trying to teach myself the same lesson: we clean up after ourselves. I feel very strongly that I need to do the things I expect him to do. I've learned to eat veggies (even though I think they're nasty) because I want him to eat his veggies. I do not want him to think I'm a hypocrite. I need to lead by example in every part of my life. My mom came over today and was pleasantly surprised with my picked up living room. What a nice surprise considering what she normally sees :) And then I got a text from J when he came home commenting on how nice everything looked. I like getting comments like that! I really do! Now why can't I keep my house like this all the time? Hmmm... I'm guessing it has something to do with the two little tornadoes named T and L ;)

Wed walk with God: More trust.

As I mentioned last week, God is trying to teach me to just trust in Him. I really need to just place all of my concerns in His arms. I have to admit, though, that I'm struggling. J's last day on this contract is very quickly approaching and I'm in a panic about it. Today is Thursday, yesterday he had an interview and I didn't want to post about trusting in God while I was so concerned about the outcome of this interview. While the interview went well, he found out today that he didn't get the job. Hello stress, you're back so soon? Again I find myself trying to trust God with everything. J had another interview today, but this job is even farther away (he commutes over an hour... traffic is terrible :() I already feel like I never see him and it's going to be even worse if he gets this one. But he NEEDS a job! This is no time to be picky. Ugh, I just wish I knew where God was leading us. On the bright side, if nothing else comes up, the company taking over his contract has offered him a position. We are not thrilled with how the new company is handling things and overall have a bad feeling about it, but at this point, a job is a job! Please keep praying for my hubby as he searches for God's path. Pray that it's clear to him what God wants and that we listen and follow Him. Pray for me too as I struggle with trusting God's perfect plan for me and my family :)

Tasty Tuesday: French Onion Pork Chops

Have you figured out what my favorite recipe book is? If not, I'll tell you :) It's Super-Fast Slow Cooking by Gooseberry Patch. It's full of easy crock pot meals, and you've already read about my love for my crock pot! So this week, it's another recipe from my favorite cook book.

4 pork chops
10 1/2 oz can French onion soup
1/4 c water
1 t dried parsley
cooked egg noodles.

Place pork chops in a slow cooker. Mix soup and water together; pour over pork. Sprinkle with parsley. Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours. Serve over hot cooked noodles. Serves 4

This actually wasn't our new recipe from last week. My mom was out of town so my sister and I took turns cooking for my dad, sister, husband, and boys. And my dad also took us out a few times :) I guess my lazy blog postings paid off this time since I can use one from a previous week. J did not rate this one, but I remember he liked it. T ate the pork but doesn't ever eat pasta. I enjoyed it enough that we're having it again tonight. Mmmm, my house already smells goooood....

Happy Monday!

So after a terrible week, things settled down, the boys started sleeping (which means J and I started sleeping), and everyone was in a much better mood. J is on call, but that didn't stop us from having a lovely weekend. We had a relaxing day Saturday at the house. For dinner, we went to Qadobas and then to Ikea. The main reason we went to Ikea was so Ty could try out their play area (that's free! Yeah!). He was tall enough and thankfully potty trained enough to go in there and play for a half hour. He loved it. The had a big ball pit, trains, and all sorts of fun things. While he played, we decided that we should check out kitchens just to get an idea of how much it would cost us. The kitchen was one of the first projects we planned to do in our new house, but two years later, it's still not done :) If J ends up with a good job and a raise, we're thinking we might be able to start on it. Ikea cabenits aren't too pricey. We are thinking that we would like to keep (most of) our appiances and just replace the cabenits and countertops. And paint of course.

I had to take the kids to church on my own yesterday, but it wasn't so bad. Then lunch with my family was stressful because T was over tired, but it all ended up ok when I came home and took a nap! Yay naps!!! That rarely happens and I so love it when it does. When we all woke up, we took advantage of the gorgeous weather and went to the park. T went to bed late, but it was all worth it.

We had the best night last night than we've had in what seems like forever! And then the kids and I made a trip to a Christian book store and a park with my momma. It was fun! After a short nap, we went to the cherry blossoms in DC. It was a blast and the kids were so well behaved! I'm really proud of my little guys.

Weekend post April 2 & 3

Here is the ottoman I wrote about earlier in the week:

Proverbs 31:27
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Lord, let this be me next week! Amen :)

Friday's looking good! 4/1

My hair is finally at a nice length! I need to stop cutting it so short because I really don't like it. But, finally! It's to my shoulders and I like it :) I also was able to switch from the Extreme shampoo and conditioner to the regular one. Maybe my hair is finally adjusting to regular hormones instead of crazy pregnant and postpartum ones? This was a much needed change and I think my hair is thankful for it :) I'm also getting closer to my pre-L weight. About 5 pounds to go, 10 to be pre-T! I hope to be skinny again before bathing suit season. I really want to get out there and start running to help with my goals, but it's just so stinkin cold! J and I are officially over our "no sugary drink" bet. I'm hoping to keep away from that junk overall, but I'm excited to enjoy a soda here or there again. I'm going to try to cut back on snacks too. It's all about moderation, so I'm not cutting them out completely. I love my snacks too much to do that! But I need to limit how often, and what type of snacks I eat. So, anyone have suggestions on healthy, yummy, sweet snacks???
